My Radio Phoenix programme this week was laden with interesting guests including, I am very proud to say, an Olympian Aerial Ski Jumper, Sarah Ainsworth, who has just returned from competing in Vancouver.
I was also joined by Rope Runners who have an outdoor activity based up at the Secret Nuclear Bunker, for those not scared of heights or for those wishing to overcome their fears, to swing on harnesses between the trees.
Chief Inspector Keith Dobson called in to update us on policing matters in the constituency and re-iterated the very sound advice to help deter burglars by making sure you leave lights on when you are out - most burglaries happen in the early evening before people return home from work and leaving lights on or programming timers can make all the difference.
SNAP (Special Needs and Parents) came in to tell listeners about their charity and to advertise Brentwood's first Beer Festival at the Eagle and Child which is raising money for them. The Beer Festival, organised by Brentwood Brewing Company, is taking place all this weekend and has some good fun events planned including a tug of war between Brentwood RFC and Old Brentwoods RFC on Sunday. Steve Davis is also giving up his time to play pool for charity and for a donation, you can have your photograph taken with him. I am pleased to say I popped in on my way through Shenfield and posed for the camera with him and shall be sending in my cheque forthwith.
The delightful Isobel and Madeline from Warley Primary School discussed book week and what they were reading and how they would be dressing up as characters from their chosen book.
And of course we had our newspaper review and this week Steve Lewis, Editor at the Weekly News, took us through the events of the week.
