Sir Thomas Legg

The requested repayment of £388 follows Sir Thomas Legg's report into MP's expenses and relates to a period when Eric Pickles claimed the ACA. Eric ceased taking that allowance when he became Conservative Party Chairman.

While Eric took the ACA his claims were comparatively modest; his total claim for ACA for the last financial year he took it was just £4,500 (£4495.96) or 18.7% of the available allowance

He paid £40 a week for cleaning rather than £38.50 retrospectively imposed by Legg. The £300 is made up of individual £1.50 over approximately 5 years.

The £40 figure was agreed in advance with the Fees Office and was at the lower end of their suggest range of payments for cleaners

Eric has repaid the sum requested.
