MP SAYS BIRTHDAY CHEERS TO BRENTWOOD BREWING COMPANY
Brentwood and Ongar Member of Parliament, Mr Eric Pickles, has said “Cheers” to the Brentwood Brewing Company as it reaches its first birthday next week.
Speaking during a visit to the microbrewery based in Navestock Mr Pickles said: “The Brentwood Brewing Company launched its first brew in June 2006, ‘Summer Virgin’ which as marketed as ‘a taste of things to come!’
“It was a golden ale, brewed using pale malt and an aromatic blend of fresh hops (not dried pellets!) and proved to be a quaffable summer beer of 4.5% ABV. This was initially only available to Brentwood and surrounding local pubs and local festivals.
“During the last year this Microbrewery, which produces around 1000 pints per brew, has proved a great success and during my visit was brewing Summer Virgin ready for the Chelmsford Beer Festival.
“The company now has a range of 14 beers it regularly brews – including some specially developed for individual public houses in the Borough – and is going from strength to strength.
“Brentwood has a good track record for such breweries – The Mighty Oak Brewing Company started with similar humble beginnings in Hutton before having to move to Maldon to find bigger premises to cope with demand for its award winning range of Real Ales and I am confident that demand for the excellent beers produce by the Brentwood Brewing Company will be similarly high and that this company will go on to win CAMRA and other awards too.
“My congratulations and best wishes of to Dave Holmes and Roland Kannor on their success and I will be watching their progress with great interest.
